  1. In that case it's an easy fix, try changing the oil temp sensor, its the one next to the oil drain plug on the oil pan. They are cheap, if that doesn't fix it, you can add resistors to the wire from the sensor to add or subtract resistance, with that lower the gauge reading.
  2. Start with verifying how accurate the gauge is, simply drive the car till gets up to temp , with the engine running get it in the air and using a infrared thermometer measure the temp on the oil pan.
  3. Yes, i have the same intake, but the engine is very early XUD9 engine code 162. Do you recognise the gearbox? Да, у меня такой же впуск, но двигатель очень ранний XUD9, код двигателя 162. Вы узнаете коробку передач?
  4. Nice to hear from you Joe, Peugeot's FWD gearboxes are pretty good, just keep oil in them i'm using Total 75W80 in my they don't brake, also like any other they don't want when they are in gear to have your hand on the shifter.
  5. Congratulation on the video, it's pleasant to watch, too bad i don't understand the language.
  6. Yeah, my country is trying to become part of the european union, so any law others implement our government also implements. it's becoming very strict, also insurance company are making big influence, they are charging more and more also they are pressuring the inspection stations to be more strict that way on mods will pass thru.
  7. We are a young country, and we have lots of freedom, and the fines aren't awful but i'm sort of person that doesn't like to be illegal, that is partly why i don't have trouble with the police. Around here everyone knows everyone else, and i have reputation to own and drive unique cars radder fast but my cars are always legal, register and no accident with my fault. I respect the police and they respect me, there is every now and then a new young cop to stop me but because all my cars are stock looking they don't know any better, also usually there is a more experienced policemen with him to give him advace. I can put in any engine in the little niva and get it registered and certified but in few years or months when my country gets stricter with the emission i won't be able to get it registered but if i keep the original engine block with the factory number i'm in the clear, here we have austin minis running 16v motorcycle cylinder heads and big turbo on a stock block and they are legal, making 10x more power but by law there is nothing about changing the power output or gearbox.
  8. The problem is that even if i legalise it now, in few months that doesn't count, present law for emissions doesn't acount anything for engine swapped cars, in my case i'll be just throwing money away.
  9. It's time to update this thread, from the time i've decided to engine swap this little russian 4x4 till now when i'm going to insert the peugeot engine couple things happen. Most important, my country started enforcing vehicle emissions and modified cars are not exampd, wich in plain english means my registration will be double, triple or worse case i'll won't be able to pass registration. If i keep the original engine its 39 years old and it's an oldtimer by law which is the only category exempt from any emission and with addition of the LPG my registration should be cheaper than any other of my cars. I do enjoy driving this go anyway no roads needed vehicle, so i'll be rebuilding the oe engine is there any interest of me showing that process here on a peugeot forum?
  10. Congratulation, hard work pays off a the end. Show as the crack you are talking about, i've used thick big washers to get around that problem, if there is enough space around it for a washer to clamp it, you do not need to do anything about it. About the messy garage, they all are like that in my now i have about 12 engines, tons of tires and lots more, but every time i take something out of a box the box and the old parts go immediately in garbage, that way it does not accumulate, i also use couple of hours everyday when i'm in the garage to arrange parts make new shelfs and clean up
  11. Mobile welding service, i've learn to weld like that. Long story short, when i was just a kid 14-15 years, my father had called a mobile welder to come and weld couple of bars to fix the fence but the welder never would come he keep giving excuses, at the time i was fully mechanically captable and had couple of zastavas and fiat's to fix and drive around my neighborhood. So i got tired of waiting and took my fiat 600 to town, hardware store to hardware store and bought me my first arc welder. The cheapest one less than 100$, box of welding rods, got back home fix the fence and when my father got home gave me a good yelling, not for driving without licence but for spending my own money.
  12. That car needs to run, to be driven, i've gone thru the same with my little niva, that car sat for years more i drove it better the engine got but at one point during the pandemic restriction i found myself alone on a straight road and pushed it to see how fast it can go, and after that run the oil pressure went from nearly zero to oil light on at idle. So take it easy when you start to drive it and do more recent oil changes.
  13. This sounds familiar but it's been long time since i've done it, i know petrol engine and diesels have the same crank sensor but are wired different i've had the opposite when i've changed the engine in my 605 idling it will peg the rev counter like is running 10 000 rpm, i've rewired it and it was reading fine, members with better knowledge on the 505 may know better.
  14. Check the fuses and the wires at the ignition coil, you are missing power or signal for the rev counter to work, the gauges himself rarely fail, also have you check for vacuum leaks.
  15. I've neglected to update this thread, The inspection pit got finished months ago to the point that i can fully use it, wooden covers painted grey Led lights electrical sockets, steps down.
  16. Mike, did you check them for actual size, i've recently bought some for the little niva, box says 0,5 but half are that, others are 0,25 so be careful measure them before installation.
  17. When i was younger i had lots of mechanical and tire sympathy but then in one month i had two car crashes, none of them my fault but the cars that i so much cared for become scrap. So overnight i decided life is too short for sympathy, i'll drive it like is meant to be driven. About donuts, 4WD cars do them better, i've embarrassed couple of BMW M cars doing donuts with my silver M16x4. That thing was a bit underpowered to start a donut on dry pavement i had to clutch kick it with full throttle, but once it it starts spinning it was instant smoke screen. Unfortunately at that time there was no smartphones for others to videotape it. I've found this video of a 405 doing a donut and wanted to share it, its short but you can get the sense of the dynamics of those cars and the sound they make at high rpm and under load.
  18. A good donut never hurt anything.
  19. Sounds like rust on top of the bolts. Use some penetrating oil and work it in and out tighten and then loosen, it will come out.
  20. Did you remove the mounting bolts on the top? that should allow you to lower it a bit then few small taps from a hammer it should get off.
  21. You need a jack with wheels and a smooth surface under it. As a young person i've improved with a skateboard, bottle jack and pieces of wood, remove one axle completely then you can pull the diff backwards and to the side to pull out the other axle from the diff. As for holding the diff i know it's secured with the torque tube and its 4 bolts and two mounts at the top. Be careful, the diff is pretty heavy.
  22. How many drill bit it took?
  23. From my experience the head on seat belt bolts is between 16mm and 17mm the threads are almost always 7/16 20 thread, i've installed few thousand of them during my year in van hool buses, even the smallest seat belt for the passenger in a bus used the same bolts with factory loctite apply, a 16mm socket and torqued them to 60 Nm
  24. Seat belt bolts are always 7/16"-20 (UNF). Also brake lines are often imperial 1/8, 1/4, 1/2". Also peugeot often uses seals and bearings in imperial sizes.
  25. Check the wire, and the bolt and nut on the sensor, they are located at the bottom of the oil pan, perhaps the bolt wobbles or it's been hit at some point at its life. The same ting is happening for my engine temp on my 605 but i've never worried about it. The sensor is the same for all peugeots of the 90s and early 2000's, just match the Ohms from yours.
